Where are you?
Christ is calling for you to get started
How is your personal ministry going today?
Yes, we are all called to a personal ministry.
No matter our job, church position, age or finances.
Christ is calling.
Matthew 4:19 (KJV) – “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Yes, you.
There doesn’t have to be anything supernatural or formal about what we are called to do.
Everyone has a personal sphere of influence of people with whom they can share the Gospel.
Romans 8:28-29 (KJV) - “28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
Jesus gave it all and first shared the Gospel with others. We are to seek to bring more into His fold.
Now, disciple, are you listening?
Isaiah 6:8 (KJV) – “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
Christ is calling.
Where are you?
Now is the time to get going.
3 Questions for now
Questions don’t have to be complicated to get a conversation started.
And remember, by example, Jesus started many conversations with a question during his earthly ministry.
Wherever you are in this world, you can ask a question.
Be prepared, and simple ask:
How are you doing today?
Do you ever feel like you need a little boost of grace to get through the day?
Do you know Jesus?
Christ is not likely calling you to be a street preacher. But He is calling you to share Him with others.
Be kind. Love others. Be bold.
Shawn’s noodling rant:
(“Noodling” is a term I swiped from my mentor. The meaning is to “ponder” or “think deeply about” a topic that God is challenging us with through scripture or the Holy Spirit, or both.)
You’re there for a reason, wherever you work
Ever get ready in the morning, drive to work and wonder, “What am I doing?”
Ever gather your things, drive home from work and wonder, “What am I doing?”
Is this what I’m supposed to be doing?
Most of us who work are caught in this daily cycle of dreariness.
The whole process can weigh heavily on us physically and mentally and spiritually.
But keep in mind, you’re in good company.
Don’t forget that Paul – credited with penning much of the New Testament – was a “working stiff.”
He made tents by day, and boldly preached the Gospel whenever He could.
I don’t know about you, but tent making seems pretty dreary.
“Cut the square, sew the square, cut the square, sew the square, cut the top, sew the top … next.”
So, what was Paul doing?
He was carrying his weight earning a living, doing the work where God placed Him.
Can you imagine working next to Paul?
You would have become a Gospel scholar in short order with him talking all day.
We don’t have to be biblical scholars or fervent preachers in this world.
We just have to be willing to serve where God has placed us – that place where there are lost people.
For many of us that is trying, difficult, because the dreariness surrounds each day.
But God has us there for a reason.
Galatians 6:9 (KJV) – “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
It may just be one interaction with one person all the time we are there.
Yet, that one interaction may lead someone to know Jesus as their savior.
And that is a worthy calling for any of us.
1 Chronicles 28:20 (KJV) – “And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.”
We are all called to His service, so be of good cheer this day. Your service to Him matters to someone near you.
Now, disciple, let God’s words of encouragement bring brightness into your daily trek to wherever He has placed you today.
